The optics and optometry sector has developed in the framework of the knowledge society. Its social, cultural and economic model is therefore in line with that on which other developed countries base theirs. In economic terms, the model is characterized by the production of goods, the delivery of high added value services and, increasingly, by the importance placed on technology.
