The Faculty of Optics and Optometry of Terrassa (FOOT) and the University Centre for Vision (CUV) carry out solidarity initiatives that improve visual health and quality of life for different communities. These initiatives are implemented both locally and internationally and include volunteer projects, collaborations with organizations, and social action programs.

Local Collaborations
In addition to providing visual health care for patients referred by collaborating organizations and local councils, the Faculty of Optics and Optometry of Terrassa and the University Centre for Vision participate in visual health projects for children and teenagers at risk, with the aim of detecting and preventing visual disorders that could interfere with their learning process, personal autonomy, and development. The Faculty also promotes projects aimed at other specific groups, such as older adults and people with intellectual disabilities. Some examples of these projects are:

The Faculty also collaborates with international organizations to expand the reach of its solidarity initiatives.
Social Action of the University Centre for Vision - Mirades Solidàries
Mirades Solidàries is the social action program of the CUV based on the Service-Learning model. It provides visual health services to people in vulnerable situations, ensuring comprehensive visual care and equal opportunities.
Main functions and actions:
- Care for people referred by organizations (69 organizations in Catalonia).
- Free visual support for families with limited resources.
- Glasses service for undergraduate students with frames and lenses donated by the optical industry.
- Specialized services for master's students:
- Low Vision
- Specialty Contact Lenses
- Vision Therapy
- Myopia Control
- CISViT Research Project: monitoring children aged 8 to 16 in 15 schools, studying myopia progression and its relationship with socioeconomic status.

VOOL - Volunteering in Optics and Optometry
Any undergraduate, master's, or doctoral student, licensed optometrist, or faculty member can participate in volunteer activities, both locally and internationally.
- Each semester, volunteer opportunities are published along with a registration form.
